Dear Kevin O. McCarthy,
I believe congratulations are due on your being elected Speaker of the 118th United States Congress, and that after a mere fifteen attempts to get enough votes from your own party. It was certainly an inspiration to see how the democracy in your United States works, with so many members of the Republican Party clearly putting their own interests far higher than the interests of the country they have been elected to serve. And to watch you being beaten – numerically – every single time by a real leader, by Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, and to have the privilege of listening to his worthy speech when the final count was completed.
In the real world, where we look at numbers and see a man elected with two hundred and twelve votes, against someone who only managed to scrape together two hundred or so fourteen times in succession, we could claim that this election was well and truly stolen – but stolen from those worthy of the position and honour in front of our eyes, and not from the rabble, the insurrections, and those who are moving so far to the right, politically, that they challenge a milder use of the word Fascism.
You are delusional if you believe that this laughable fight to gain votes and be elected as Speaker gives you any form of Mandate from the people. It is a Mandate from the extreme right, from insurrectionists, from Q Anon and from a wide selection of potential criminals; no one is going to ignore, forgive or forget what comes over the next two years.
So congratulations on being elected, finally, as Speaker of the 118th United States Congress, and I am sure you will prove yourself unworthy of the title in your usual manner.
Yours sincerely,
